A little birthday cake to share……

Let us have a guess what it might be made from, as Kel is watching her weight maybe an Angel Food cake

PREP: 30 MINS TOTAL TIME: 1 HOUR 10 MINS

  • 1 cup cake flour (spooned and leveled)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 12 large egg whites, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract , for serving

Pistachio shortbreads

50g (2oz) Tate & Lyle Fairtrade Golden Caster Cane Sugar
10g (½oz) Tate & Lyle Fairtrade Demerara Cane Sugar
110g (4oz) unsalted butter, softened
175g (6oz) plain flour + extra for rolling
50g (2oz) semolina or ground rice
A pinch of salt
1 tbsp milk
10g (½oz) shelled unsalted pistachio nuts
You will also need 2 baking trays lined with parchment paper.

1. Cream the butter and Tate & Lyle Fairtrade Golden Caster Cane Sugar together in a bowl, then gradually add the flour, semolina or ground rice and salt, mix and then lightly bring the mixture together with your hand.
2. Turn the dough out on to a floured surface, knead lightly and roll it with your hands into a 25.5cmx4cm (10&rdquox1½&rdquo) log. Wrap in cling film and chill for 1 hour.
3. While the dough is chilling, finely chop the pistachios and combine them with the Tate & Lyle Fairtrade Demerara Cane Sugar on a tray.
4. Preheat the oven to 170°C/Fan 150°C, 325°F, Gas Mark 3.
5. Brush the shortbread log with the milk and roll it firmly in the cane sugared nut mixture to completely cover. Cut into 28 discs and lay these out on the baking trays, leaving a space between each. Bake on the middle and top shelves of the oven for 15-18 minutes or until very pale golden, swapping the trays over halfway through. Remove and cool on a wire rack.

Kelly Osbourne has been baking cookies with Taylor Swift.

The Fashion Police star teamed up with the Red singer for a night of baking, and was impressed with her skills in the kitchen.

The 28-year-old wrote on Twitter: '#GirlsNight baking with @taylorswift13 you guys have no idea how good Taylor is at cooking! #shocked'.


Kelly - who is engaged to chef Matthew Mosshart - then posted a picture of her cookies before they went in the oven and another of her new baking team, which also includes her friend Claire Kislinger.

She wrote: 'Our home made chocolate peppermint cookies are amazing! @clairewinter @taylorswift13 In home made foodie heaven.'

The trio also came up with a name for their baking group, with Kelly adding: '#NewGirlGroup we are #TheCulinaryPatienceTurtles'.



Taylor, 23, has previously talked about her prowess in the kitchen, and how she likes to put her own twist on recipes from her favourite cookbooks.

She said: 'You know when you go into the stores and there's [books like] How To Make Great Sandwiches? I buy those! I see a book of 100 Ways to Make Cupcakes. I buy that.

'Basically anything that I can get from a cookbook and then improvise with.

'I'll get the basic recipe from a cookbook and get the idea for it and then I'll just think, "I wonder what would happen if I add this to it?"'

KELLY OSBOURNE'S HOLLYWOOD DIET PLAN

Trim and toned: Kelly Osbourne has lost a lot of weight

Fitness expert Fred Khordishi runs a healthy eating food company Simple Foods.

Working alongside his chefs and a nutritionist he has devised an eating plan which is quick and easy to follow to help you lose weight and get healthy fast. Fred and Kelly's top tips are:

Eat every two to three hours

Don’t shop for food when you are feeling hungry

Don’t cook when you are feeling hungry – as you will just pick while you are cooking

Make your lunch in a batch for the week. Pack and label them in Tupperware and put them in a freezer and take them out and use them as you need

Don't only eat to get full! This is a bad habit to get into

Only eat when you need to

Drink 6-8 glasses of water each day

Have any dressing, sauce or gravy on the side

Do not cut back on calories as you will be doing exercise so you will need the food for energy

If you make and eat the meals that have been selected and take part in the exercises that have been advised you will be on course to lose 1-2 pounds per week (this is the weight loss that is advised by the British Dietetic Association)

The menu suggestions listed below have been designed to allow you a good balance of nutrients each day and allows you to mix and match. Just make sure you check out the calories and make sure you don’t go over your daily calorie intake.

• 1100 calories per day for women

• 1600 calories per day for men

There are seven options for breakfast, lunch and dinner, just select one from each and then you have your daily meal plan.

Breakfast: Star Spangled Cinnamon Porridge (Serves 1)

1. Mix the porridge oats with the water and follow the instructions on the packet.

2. Once cooked add the brown sugar and sprinkle cinnamon over the top to taste.

Lunch: Californian Californian Chopped Grilled Vegetable Salad (Serves 4)

12oz/340g asparagus, ends trimmed

12oz/340g aubergine, halved lengthways or Portobello mushrooms

1lb/450g courgette, halved lengthways

1 bunch spring onions or 1 red onion, sliced thickly

Romaine lettuce or red leaf lettuce, optional

2 ripe avocados, peeled and cubed

2 tbsp unseasoned rice vinegar

1 small shallot, finely chopped

Freshly ground pepper, to taste

60ml/1fl oz extra virgin olive oil

1. Remove any husks from the corn and soak in water.

2. Preheat the grill to a medium heat or heat a grill pan.

3. Place the dressing ingredients except the oil in a small bowl, whisk and slowly add the olive oil. Brush the asparagus, aubergine/mushrooms and courgette and spring onions with the dressing. Add pepper to taste.

4. Grill the corn and vegetables until cooked through. Allow to cool then chop into bite-sized chunks. Cut the corn off the cob

5. Place the lettuce on a large platter and drizzle lightly with some of the dressing. Toss to coat. Drizzle the chopped vegetables with the dressing and arrange on top of the lettuce. Dress the avocado cubes with the remaining dressing and arrange on top.

Note: This recipe also works well with grilled salmon or chicken

Nutritional information per serving:

Dinner: Hollywood Style Honey Glazed Chicken (Serves 4)

4 chicken breasts, boned and skinned

180ml/6fl oz freshly squeezed orange juice

4 tbsp freshly grated orange rind

1. Combine the thyme, coriander and cloves together in a small dish.

2. Rinse the chicken and pat dry and season. Place the chicken in a baking dish and pour over the orange juice. Pour half the honey over the chicken and sprinkle half of the herb mix onto the meat. Bake in a preheated oven at 190C/375F/gas mark 5 for around 20 minutes.

3. Turn the chicken and pour remaining honey over and the remaining herb mix and continue baking for a further 20 minutes.

4. Once the chicken is cooked through, arrange on a plate and season. Pour over the sauce from the baking dish and sprinkle with the orange rind. Serve with asparagus and potatoes.


Rosie O'Donnell

A SUPER SLIMMING MUSHROOM INSPIRED MEAL

Mushroom and Spinach Omelette

- cooking spray/oil
- 250g two chicks free range liquid egg white
- 50g spinach
- 1/2 medium red onion finely diced
- 5 breakfast mushrooms finely sliced
- mixed herbs
- salt & pepper to taste

1. Coat a non-stick frying pan with oil or cooking spray.
2. Fry the onion over a medium heat until softened.
3. Add the mushrooms followed by the spinach, mixed herbs and salt & pepper and sauté.
4. Remove from the frying pan and keep warm.
5. Add some more oil or cooking spray to the same frying pan and warm over a medium heat.
6. Add a pinch of mixed herbs/chives/salt & pepper to the two chicks free range liquid egg white and mix thoroughly.
7. Pour the egg white into the frying pan.
8. Cook until almost set, and then spoon the vegetable mixture onto one side of the omelette.
9. Fold the other half over.
10. Slide onto a serving plate.

Garnish with fresh chives or herbs of your choice.

Try these delicious and easy-to-make-Fourth of July cocktails for the holiday weekend! You and your guests are sure to call in cocktail heaven after whipping up these tasty treats!

Joe’s Bar NYC Rocket Pop Cocktail

For the slushy:
2 parts fresh Lemon Juice
1 part simple syrup
3 parts Gin, we’ve used Hendricks

If you’ve got a frozen drink machine, add 6 parts water to the above. If you’re using a blender, add 3 cups of crushed or pellet ice and blend thoroughly.

Grand Lemon-Peach Sparkler
1/2 oz. simple syrup
1 oz. Grand Marnier Raspberry Peach
1 oz. fresh lemon juice
2 oz. Chandon Limited Edition American Summer Rosé
Lemon wedges for garnish

Pour the Grand Marnier Raspberry Peach, lemon juice and simple syrup into a rocks glass. Stir to combine. Add the Rosé. Fill the glass with ice and add a lemon wedge. Serve with a straw.

Hendrick&rsquos Cucumber Lemonade
Ingredients:
3 parts Hendrick&rsquos Gin
2 parts fresh lemon juice
2 parts simple syrup
Sparkling Water

Preparation:
In a long glass combine ingredients. Add ice, top with sparkling water, give a gentle stir and garnish with a cucumber spears

Solerno Blood Orange & Berry Punch
(Serves 25 people)

1 Bottle Solerno Blood Orange Liqueur
1 Bottle Lillet Rouge
12 oz. Red Zinger Tea (brewed at 2x strength)
6 oz. agave nectar
6 oz. fresh lemon juice
6 oz. berry blend puree (Raspberries, Blueberries,
Blackberries, Red Grapes)

Combine all ingredients in a punch bowl and stir well.
Float an ice block in the center and garnish with floating blueberries,
raspberries, halved grapes, blood orange slices and a few mint leaves

Basil Hayden’s® Spiced Blueberry Punch
Created by Debbi Peek (Louisville, KY)
(Recipe serves 4-5)
Ingredients:
4 parts Basil Hayden’s® Bourbon
8 parts Blueberry Juice
8 parts Passion Fruit Juice
Sparkling Wine or Club Soda
15-20 Fresh Mint Leaves
1 bag Frozen Blueberries, for ice ring

Method:
1. Add Basil Hayden&rsquos® Bourbon, blueberry juice, passion fruit juice and mint leaves to a medium sized punch bowl and stir.
2. Add blueberry ice ring*. (See recipe below.)
3. Serve in a cocktail glass and top with club soda or sparkling wine.

*Blueberry Ice Ring
Freeze one bag of frozen blueberries with water in a bundt cake pan.
Dip frozen ring into hot water for a few seconds to unmold.
Place in punch bowl with blueberry side up.

Knob Creek® Rye Blackhawk
Ingredients:
2 parts Knob Creek® Rye Whiskey
1 part DeKuyper® Sloe Gin
1 maraschino cherry for garnish

Method:
1. In a mixing glass half-filled with ice cubes, combine the whiskey and gin.
2. Stir and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
3. Garnish with a cherry.

For the Raspberry Cordial:
4 parts Raspberry Purée, our favorite is Boiron
2 parts sugar
1 part Vodka

Keep in mind how sweet your raspberry purée is already and adjust the amount of sugar you add to taste. Our recipe uses Boiron purée which maintains quite a bit of tartness.

Making the cocktail:
In the bottom of your favorite retro rocks glass, add 1 1/2 to 2 oz of Raspberry Purée. The more you add, the sweeter the cocktail will be. Then, gently pour your slushy over top until it nearly fills the glass. Top the cocktail carefully with Blue Curacao, stick a straw in it and enjoy! If you’d like to add a fun garnish, we suggest fresh raspberries!

Ledger&rsquos Lemonade

INGREDIENTS:
– Q Tonic
– 2 parts premium gin
– 1 part fresh lemon juice
– Dash simple syrup
– Lemon wedge, for garnish

METHOD: Add 2 parts premium gin, 1 part fresh lemon juice and a dash of simple syrup to a cocktail shaker. Vigorously shaker and pour into a tall glass with ice. Top with Q Tonic as desired. Garnish with a lemon wedge.

Ciroc Themed Cocktails

Blueberry Collins:
2 oz Cachaça 51
3/4 oz fresh lemon juice
3/4 simple syrup infused with hibiscus
3 to 4 blueberries
Add ingredients in a shaker tin and shake with ice well. Pour over ice in a Collins glass and top with cold seltzer water. Drop a few blueberries in the glass for garnish.

Negroni Sbagliato
1 oz. Campari
1 oz. Cinzano Rosso Vermouth
1 oz. Cinzano Prosecco

Build ingredients over ice in rocks glass. Garnish with an orange slice.

Americano
1 oz. Campari
1 oz. Cinzano Rosso Vermouth
Splash of Club Soda

Pour Campari and Cinzano Rosso Vermouth over ice in a rocks or highball glass. Add a splash of club soda. Garnish with an orange twist.

SVEDKA Vodka&rsquos Disco Cup
Ingredients:
2 parts SVEDKA Grapefruit Jalapeño
1 part elderflower liqueur
½ part fresh lemon juice
½ part fresh limejuice
2 strawberry slices
2 orange slices
Pinch of mint
Club soda

Instructions: Lightly muddle fruit and mint in the bottom of a Collins glass. Fill with ice, add remaining liquid ingredients and top with club soda. Garnish with sliced strawberries, sliced oranges and mint.

Sauza® 901® Club
· 1 part Sauza® 901® Tequila

Preparation: Combine all ingredients. Stir well. Serve over ice in tall glass. Garnish with mint sprig and lemon wedge.

Zarza
· 2 parts Sauza® 901® Tequila

Preparation: Combine all ingredients, excluding blackberry liqueur. Shake well. Strain and serve over crushed ice in a rocks glass. Float blackberry liqueur on top. Garnish with fresh blackberries.

Tequila Baybreeze
· 1 part Sauza® 901® Tequila

Preparation: Combine all ingredients. Stir well. Serve over ice in highball glass. Garnish with pineapple spear.

Nothing is more Americana than America&rsquos native spirit &ndash bourbon! Raise a glass this 4th with a bit of the good stuff: Maker&rsquos Mark.

2 parts Maker&rsquos Mark® Bourbon
2&ndash3 large blackberries
½ part raspberry liqueur
2 parts ginger ale
Muddle 2 or 3 large blackberries in an Old Fashioned glass with a splash of raspberry liqueur. Add in equal parts Maker&rsquos Mark® Bourbon and ginger ale. Stir gently. Top off with ice.

A Fiery Ménage

Show your pride this Independence Day with this mouthwatering mix of fresh ingredients and gluten-free California-made vodka.

1 ½ parts Ménage à Trois Triple Berry Vodka
¼ part cinnamon simple syrup
½ part lemon juice
¼ part wild berry syrup
5 parts dry sparkling wine (such as Ménage à Trois Prosecco)
Add all ingredients over ice. Shake and strain into a champagne flute, top with Champagne.

Strawberry Firecracker

This sweet & bubbly concoction adds an exotic island flair to any beach bound fireworks celebration.

1.5 parts Sugar Island Coconut
1-2 strawberries
0.5 parts fresh lime juice
1-2 packets of your choice of sugar substitute
Splash of ginger ale or ginger beer
Muddle sweetener and strawberries together add lime, rum and ice. Shake and strain into a tall glass with ice. Top with a splash of ginger ale (diet optional) or ginger beer. Garnish with half a strawberry on the rim of the glass.

Blueberry 46 Sparkler
Salute your stars & stripes with this refreshing blueberry & bourbon sparkling cocktail!

2 parts Maker&rsquos 46&trade Bourbon
1 part St-Germain
10 fresh blueberries
Splash of club soda
Muddle the St-Germain and blueberries together in a glass. Add ice and the Maker&rsquos 46&trade. Shake vigorously for 10 seconds. Strain into a chilled rocks glass and top with splash of soda.

Peach Blueberry Cobbler With The Dreaming Tree&rsquos Crush
Serves 6-8 people

Ingredients for Filling
1 pint Blueberries
3 pounds of fresh peaches, peeled and sliced (see note below)
½ cup light brown sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons white wine
1 pinch salt

1) Place all ingredients in a pot

2) Heat over medium high heat, stirring occasionally until mixture comes to a simmer and the liquid becomes clear, 5-10 minutes

3) Turn off heat and carefully transfer to an 8吇/12in glass or ceramic pan

Note: To peel peaches, cut an &ldquox&rdquo in the bottom of the peach, just through the skin. Put in a pot of boiling water for about 20 seconds (you may need to do this in stages), then place into ice water to cool. Skin should come off quite easily. If fresh peaches are not available you can use frozen. Defrost the peaches and follow the recipe from there

Ingredients for Topping
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1/3 cup sugar, plus 2T reserved
½ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon cinnamon
½ teaspoon ginger
1 pinch salt
6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
2/3 cup kefir, buttermilk or heavy cream + 2 tablespoons reserved
1 teaspoon vanilla

1) Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees

2) While the filling is heating, mix together all dry ingredients. If you have a food processor you can use this. Pulse the dry ingredients. Add the cubed butter and pulse until incorporated and you can&rsquot see any large chunks of butter

3) Transfer to a bowl, add 2/3 c kefir and vanilla and gently mix with a wooden spoon until the batter just comes together

4) Using a spoon or your hands, take biscuits and place on top of the filling. The topping will cover most of the filling but make sure to leave small space between the biscuits to allow the heat to escape

5) Brush tops of biscuits with reserved kefir and sprinkle with remaining sugar
