Today we had a lovely ripe mango sitting on the countertop and so I thought I’d try it out in a mojito recipe. There were numerous mango mojito recipes on the web, so we tried a few, changed one up a little and came up with a winner!

We assembled the ingredients and began mixing, nearly drooling at the sweet aroma of the mango. Be sure you choose a ripe mango for this recipe for smooth consistency and the best taste. You may be able to substitute mango nectar for the actual mango, but the real fruit tasted delicious in this drink. We used Cruzan Mango Rum for the added sweetness and another shot of mango taste, but a white rum can also be used. Makes a great summertime treat!

  1. In a blender or food processor, add the mango and puree until smooth.
  2. Place mint leaves, lime juice and rum in cocktail shaker and use muddler to gently muddle the leaves. Don't muddle too much or you'll break the leaves.
  3. Add the mango puree and mix until combined.
  4. Pour the mango mixture into two glasses with ice. Top off with club soda. Add extra mint, lime and mango cubes for garnish.

How to Make a Mango Mojito

You need a tall glass and a muddler. If you don’t have a muddler, you can use the handle of another utensil that has a thick handle.

I prefer one that’s made in one solid piece so it’s easier to clean, like this one. You don’t want to crush the lime and mint too much when you’re muddling it, or the bitter flavors will come out. Just press enough to release the juice from the lime.

Add the mango, mint leaves, lime wedges, and sugar to the glass. Muddle them together well, pressing down on the lime wedges and stirring to dissolve the sugar slightly.

Next, add the ice and the rum and stir everything together. Then top the glass up with soda water. Give it one final stir. Then you can add more lime leaves and another wedge of lime for garnish.

Mango Mojito Recipe | Virgin Mango Mojito

Mojito is a traditional Cuban cocktail, made of 5 ingredients- mint, sugar, lime juice, white rum, and club soda. Yerba Buena, a variety of mint is generally used in the traditional recipe. But since it’s not very feasible to find it, regular mint works just as well. Making a Mojito is pretty simple and yet one can easily mess it up if not done correctly. To make a classic Mojito, mint leaves are muddled with superfine sugar and lime juice.

Now here is the tricky part, over muddling the mint leaves will result in shredding and tearing apart, and that should be avoided. Apart from little bits of mint floating all over the drink making it unsightly, it also makes the mojito bitter.

The mint leaves should be muddled just enough to release the essential oils, about 7-10 presses are more than enough. When you begin to get the aroma of the mint, you know you are done! Then rum is added and everything is given a good stir. Some crushed ice goes in next, finally topped off with club soda!

And you have yourself a Mojito!

Temperatures are soaring in my part of the world, and it’s definitely the season for cool beverages, popsicles, and ice creams! So today, I’m sharing with you this refreshing virgin mango mojito drink, a delicious and mangolicious twist on the classic Mojito! The mango purée adds a nice sweet and fruity dimension to the mojito! I don’t care much for alcohol in my drinks, so I’ve skipped it.
